“Green roofs" represent an extraordinary opportunity to regenerate urban space, both aesthetically and environmentally, because they help reduce the heat island effect, create suitable spaces for many species, improve the climatic comfort of buildings and mitigate the effects of heavy rain.
The green roof installed here is an Italian product developed after extensive research and experimentation aimed at recreating the best possible conditions for plants compatible with the thickness and weight of the soil. In addition to careful selection of plant species suitable for the microclimate created, new planting methods were tested, especially as regards tree and shrub species, which create a two-dimensional root ball as they have to be placed on a light structure with little soil available.
On one part of the roof there is a flowering meadow of wild herbs that recalls the flowering of the Umbrian landscape of Castelluccio di Norcia, an extraordinary example of flowering with a high environmental and landscape value.
